Our Focus

We are vineyard managers for some of Napa Valley's most esteemed wineries and vineyard owners. Our natural focus as growers is on the grapes themselves. Through our three generations of experience we have learned one thing for sure - it takes great grapes to make great wine. We are proud to offer handcrafted wines in small lots from the finest vineyards.

2002 Zinfandel

800 Cases produced. The 2002 vintage Zinfandel invites with red berry jam, lively spice and a whiff of smoke in the nose. The berry fruit and spice carry over nicely as it fans out on the palate. Straightforward fruit, good density and medium/full bodied throughout. The wine finishes lively and balanced with very little heat to suggest its 14.7% alcohol. A great wine for year round drinking, but absolutely perfect for summer barbeque, backyard gathering and autumn's heartier food.

Zinfandel is a versatile food wine. We like it with anything braised, grilled or smoked with a bit of sweet spice! ORDER NOW

2002 Cabernet Sauvignon

1900 Cases produced. The 2002 vintage breaks the curse of the even years, (1998 & 2000). Our 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon combines power and finesse in one wine. Deep aromas of black cherries, currants and vanilla explode from the glass. On the palate there is a juicy quality that is expressed in all of our 2002 vintage wines. Concentrated juicy cherry, currant and vanilla toast flavors fill the mouth. The finish of this wine is elegant, multi-layered and lingering. There is plenty of up front fruit in this wine to enjoy now but could be laid down for a few years of cellar time to bring a little more balance to the wine. ORDER NOW

2002 Merlot

843 Cases produced. Madrigal vineyard has a long history of developing and growing many prized Napa Valley Merot vineyards. Our passion for the subject and experience in the vineyards can be tasted in this wonderful Napa Valley Merlot.

A perfume of preserved sweet cherry, baked plum and creamy oak carries over to a lush, round mouthful of juicy black fruit. Delicious from start to finish with the big ripe fruit you expect from Napa Valley reds, fine acidity to keep things focused and long vanilla infused finish that keeps you coming back for more. Well suited to a wide variety of fuds, try it with Duck Breast over the coals, beef filet or even grilled wild Salmon steaks with a rich red wine reduction. 2002 Petite Sirah

1700 Cases produced. As in years past, our 2002 Petite Sirah is red wine for big red wine lovers. The color is a saturated purple and black. Aromas of ripe black cherry, spicy liqueur and creamy new oak are just beginning to open up. The flavors come on like gangbusters, broad without being over-ripe. This vintage may well be remembered for its beautiful balance from the start. Ripe fruit, dazzling acidity leading to a refined, yes, refined finish. As much fun as it is to just open and drink by itself, be sure to enjoy it with savory grilled or roast beef, pork or lamb.
